Launching Pagety
A few hours have gone by since yesterday’s post and as promised we’re now ready to launch our latest product: Pagety.
What is Pagety?
To put it simply, Pagety is a cross between a CMS and a hosting platform.
There’s no reason to uncouple those two functionalities which are vital to every business: a way to easily manage your website and a reliable place to host it.
What’s better than managing both from the same place?
Why?
A few months ago we were struggling managing the brochure websites for our apps — 16bugs and Unilife — using static HTML files and uploading them via FTP. The only problem being a change to a line in the header would’ve required to manually change a whole bunch of files. Still, we were reluctant to employ a ready-made CMS: we don’t like to use bloated software to handle something that should be much easier.
So we started developing Pagety — then code-named Brochure — in our spare time and soon realized it could be something useful for everyone.
Nice, and how does it work?
It’s very easy. You split your HTML in two parts: what is common to every page (the layout) and the content of the page. That’s it!
You can then create includes, which can be either CSS or Javascript and attach them to a layout. And of course, you can upload imagery and other files you might need on your website.
As you see, this would be great, but mainly for static websites only. So we decided to bake in another feature which is often very useful: forms.
You can create as many forms as you like and start collecting data immediately. You can use a form for your contact page, one for feature requests and another one for email notifications sign-up.
Here are a couple of images that might explain this better:
Is it good for me?
I’d say yes, but I think you’d be better off trying it for yourself: it’s free!
Pagety. Possibly the simplest CMS you’ll ever use.
P.S. Through April 1st, use coupon code ‘launchfest’ to get a 50% discount on any plan for as long as 1 year!
